Armpits rejoice, there’s a new deodorant in town! Fussy’s new bicarb free natural deodorant for sensitive skin. Let us tell you a little bit more about the launch and why this might just be the best natural deodorant for sensitive skin EVER created…
Why do we need a sensitive skin deodorant?
Bicarbonate of Soda is used in our regular deodorant range to neutralise sweat. But for a very small amount of customers, those with particularly delicate pits, this can lead to irritation, soreness or stinging. But fear not, our new Sensitive Skin range has the ultimate bi-carb free formulation to ensure even the fussiest of pits are left smelling fresh and ready to take on the world…or just the day ahead. It’s up to you really.
What are the ingredients?
We all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts and as always, we’ve been extra Fussy on this. We’ve spent years ensuring our natural sensitive skin deodorant is just as effective at stopping the stink whilst being even more gentle on your skin. But how? We’ve kept our base ingredients the same whilst swapping out the bicarb for another active ingredient called Glyeryl Caprylate which is from coconut oil. This has natural anti-microbial properties to help neutralise the bacteria in your armpits. We have also increased the amount of magnesium hydroxide and for extra absorbency we have added arrowroot powder. Lovely! Here’s the full ingredients for you to read about:
Sunflower Wax provides the main strength and shape of the deodorant. It also stands out for its high fatty acids content with Vitamins A, D and E helping to calm and nourish the skin.
Coconut Oil helps our deodorant to roll on smoothly and is rich in nutritious lipids to moisturise and nourish the skin.
Shea Butter comes from the fruit of the Shea Tree. It has a high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids to smooth, soothe and condition your skin. And it helps contribute to the texture of our deodorant.
Caprylic is one of the fatty acids found in coconut oil. It helps to smooth the skin and also has antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. No wonder we use it!
Tapioca Starch is a natural thickener and texture enhancer derived from the roots of the Manihot Esculenta (Cassava) shrub. But its real use for us is in helping with the absorption of any moisture to keep your armpits dry.
Arrowroot powder is often used in gluten free cooking! But here we use it for extra absorption of any moisture.
Magnesium Hydroxide is an active ingredient that helps to neutralise odour causing bacteria. It also has absorbent properties to help with the moisture.
Glyceryl Caprylate again is from the sacred coconut. It is replacing the bicarbonate of soda that we use in our regular deodorant formulation with natural anti-microbial properties to help neutralise the bacteria in your armpits and keep you smelling fresh.
Lastly but certainly not least, Lactobacillus is our not so secret ingredient. It's a probiotic that is more commonly found in yoghurt that deodorant and literally eats sweat for breakfast. Good bacteria fighting bad bacteria, what’s not to love?
What makes it an effective deodorant?
Did you know sweat doesn’t actually smell? It’s all about the bacteria that likes to hang out in warm damp places like armpits and when this bacteria reacts with your sweat it causes body odour. Our deodorants therefore work by targeting this bacteria and not the sweat itself.
Within our sensitive skin range, it’s the Magnesium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Caprylate and Lactobacillus that neutralise this bacteria…or as we like to say they eat sweat for breakfast. And we’ve had this scientific tested with an external sniff test where Fussy was proven to be effective against odour over a 24 hour period.

Am I sensitive or am I normal?
Well that's a tough question…but in terms of deodorant, if this is your first time trying a natural deodorant we would recommend choosing our ‘normal’ range. It is also worth saying we have many customers who have previously been sensitive to other natural deodorants and have been fine with our normal range due to the quality of the ingredients we use. We would therefore only recommend choosing ‘sensitive’ if you know you have a sensitivity to bicarb or have extra sensitive skin. In most cases our normal range will do the trick.
